Georgetown has long been known for it’s warm hospitality and southern charm. Georgetown is located at the most southern part of the Grand Strand and it is the third oldest city in South Carolina, following Charleston and Beaufort. Georgetown was founded in 1729 and officially became a port of entry in 1732. Originally, Indigo was the main crop however, after the Revolution, the local planters turned to the production of rice. Historic homes dating back to 1734 with rich histories and close proximity to waterfront, locally owned shops and restaurants. Many existing structures such as homes, churches and public buildings have historic significance with incredible architecture from early colonial eras.
